Prayer for Employment

I have a prayer request that I will share in a moment. Let me first say that I have experienced God’s love and grace over the past five years for which I am extremely grateful. It is what has carried me though the many challenges I have faced to this day.
It began with my wife of 30 years leaving our marriage, followed five months later with the diagnosis of a grade two astrocytoma cancerous brain tumor. I was quickly schedule for brain surgery to remove the tumor. Then came the proton-beam radiation and Chemotherapy for the next three months. A few months after that my father unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack. Some months later I met someone. We dated and were married. Shortly after our marriage there was the unfortunate passing of one of her children. Within the following year, she filed for divorce. Three weeks later my mother passed away. About seven months later, I had to have emergency eye surgery to prevent total blindness in my right eye due to a tear in the retina. Five months ago I went through an out-patient surgery for something else, but it turned out fine. Four months ago my house received hail damage to my roof and a leak appeared. My house is only 30 years old. Thankfully, my homeowners insurance will cover most the cost to repair the leak and reroof the house. Two weeks ago I found out that my central air needs to be replaced. Last week I lost my job.
I don’t share this to complain, but to affirm that no matter what we face in this life on earth God is present. There is nothing that comes into our lives that God is not aware of. I have been encourage by numerous verses in scripture, but one of my favorites is found in Philippians 4: 5-7 which says, “…The Lord in near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
As difficult as the past five years has been, I would never trade those years of challenges I have gone through for anything. It has cemented my faith and trust in God. Yes, I have still have had to work through the various human emotions that accompany those struggles, but I can say with confidence that God is good. The bible never says that we will go through life without struggles. In fact, James 1:2-4 tells us, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, when you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work sot that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
I apologize for this long entry to submit a prayer request, but I felt I needed so share this so that others might find hope through difficult situations and know that as Psalm 46:10 states, we can “Be still and know that He is God” and he will be with us. As the song says…”we may not know what the future holds, but we know who holds the future.”
Now that I have share all of that, I come to my family of Christian believers asking for your prayers that God would lead me to my next position of employment as I place my complete trust in Him (Proverbs 3:5). I have been serving in the area of ministry and my hope is to continue that career path. I desire to help others find hope and facilitate positive change in their lives.
Thank you for your prayers!
