Brat Fest
What: Brat Fest has been a Memorial Day Weekend tradition in Madison. All proceeds benefit the many local charities that help to staff the event. The menu, most of which is just $2, has expanded over the years including Johnsonville Brats, Oscar Mayer Hot Dogs, Veggie Brats and even hot, buttery sweet corn. Brat Fest activities also include music stages, a carnival, and other family-friendly activities..

Little Amerricka
What:It’s opening weekend at Little Amerricka – “the biggest little amusement park in the world” right here in Dane County. Most rides accommodate children toddler to teen from bouncy houses and a carousel to the Meteor Rollercoaster and Go Karts. The whole family can also enjoy miniature golf or take a ride on the 1/3 scale Whiskey River Railway around the 2-mile scenic countryside. There is no admission to the park, and families are allowed to bring their own lunch and beverages, or purchase concessions and have a snack. Outdoor and indoor tables are available.

Rubber Ducky River Race
What: The Madison Mallards Baseball Team, Madison Parks, and the Madison Parks Foundation are teaming up to host the Rubber Ducky River Race at Tenney Park on the Yahara River. Purchase one or more rubber ducks and watch it float down the river to the finish line. All proceeds of the event will benefit the Goodman Pool scholarship fund.The grand prize for the winner of the race will be a party for 20 at the “Duck Pond” in the new Home Plate club Seats on Opening Day (May 30) including the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch, 20 great seats for the game.  The grand prize winner will also have the opportunity to receive an additional $1,000 in cash if he/she purchases optional insurance for their duck(s) courtesy of West Bend.Mallards mascot Maynard G. Mallard will be on-hand to greet fans, and kids and parents can test their skills with the Speed Pitch, T-Ball Game, Baggo Tournament, and other games

What: The UW Physics Department welcomes the public to the LR Ingersoll Museum. The museum is a free public venue and runs on donations.  “Our exhibits give you a hands-on experience of physical concepts ranging from mechanics to modern physics in a demonstrational kid-friendly environment. In conjunction to our museum, you will find historical instruments and photos of the Nobel Prize Winners in Physics from 1901-1993 on display along the corridors.”

What: Directed activities and materials accessible each week, for ages 6 & up. It might be cartoon drawing or jewelry making, but there will be guided projects to choose from. Water Safety Day @ SwimWest
What: Several fun safety stations to teach kids the importance of staying safe in the water, on their bikes, and in their homes. The Middleton Fire Department will be on hand to give tours of their fire truck and our trained staff will do car seat safety checks by appointment. Spend the rest of the afternoon splashing with your family in our open swim. A donation of two non-perishable food items gets your family this afternoon of fun.

Home Depot Kids’ Workshop
What: Build a planter box this month! Free hands-on workshops designed for children ages 5-12 offered the 1st Saturday of every month at all Home Depot stores between 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills, tool safety, and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment. All kids get to keep their craft and receive a FREE Kids Workshop Apron, a commemorative pin and certificate of achievement.

What: The 11/12 Kids in the Rotunda season finale features Geoff Akins, bubbleologist!  Geoff has been described as “a modern day Johnny Appleseed, spreading his message far and wide, only working with bubbles instead of apple seed, and children’s souls instead of earth.”  He has been entertaining and educating children for over 25 years.  His experiences as a teacher in Waldorf and Special Education inspired him to create Bubble Wonders! which he performs over 300 times year all over the world.  You too will realize that anything is possible when you catch his show in the Rotunda!

Healthy Kids Day & Camp Fair
What: Come join the YMCA for our Healthy Kids Day. If your family could benefit from a little togetherness, the Y is the place to be. FREE for everyone! – See website for schedule of activities. Camp Fair is a FREE event for families interested in the Y’s summer programming for children ages 2-14 years. Kids can participate in fun activities, while staff members answer all your questions. Bring your child’s immunization records to register at the fair! Enter our drawing to win a free week of camp!
